Kadha Recipe Amazing Immunity Booster

Immunity boosting has become a primary concern for people, especially during the pandemic. While maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet is crucial, including natural ingredients in our diet can further enhance our immune system. And what could be better than a homemade herbal concoction, commonly known as Kadha in India?

Kadha is a blend of spices and herbs that are commonly found in Indian kitchens. The recipe shared by Ammi, is easy to follow and includes basic ingredients. However, one can always customize it by adding other immunity-boosting ingredients such as tulsi, gooseberries, mulethi, etc.

The Kadha recipe includes cumin seeds, onion seeds, black pepper, carom seeds, fenugreek seeds, coriander seeds, turmeric, ginger, jaggery, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon stick, mint leaves, lemon juice, and honey. Each of these ingredients has unique properties that can help in reducing cold, congestion, cough, flu, inflammation, headache, and other infections.

To prepare the Kadha, start by crushing black pepper along with peeled and cleaned turmeric and ginger roots. Bring two cups of water to boil in a large pan, add all the ingredients except mint leaves, honey, and lemon juice. Cover and cook for 7-8 minutes till all the antioxidants are released and our nutrients are not destroyed. If you have a teapot infuser, add some mint leaves and let the spices and mint leaves stay in the infuser for a few minutes before serving. If you don’t have an infuser, keep the concoction covered in the pan itself before filtering. You can always adjust the consistency as per your taste. Finally, add lemon juice and honey before serving.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Onion seeds / Kalonji
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Carom seeds / Ajwain
  • 1 Teaspoon Fenugreek seeds / Methi
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander seeds / Dhaniya
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Crushed
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger Crushed
  • 1 Teaspoon Jaggery / Gur
  • 3 Cloves
  • 2 Cardamom
  • 1 small Cinnamon stick
  • 4 leaves Mint leaves / Pudina
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoon Honey

Instructions
