In Tamil, it is known as Kuzhi Paniyaram, while in Kannada, it is called Gunta or Ponganalu. In Malayalam, it is known as Paddu, and in Telugu, it is referred to as Appe or Appadadde. While in Urdu-speaking households of South India, it is sometimes called Gulgule, possibly because of its resemblance to the popular North Indian dish of the same name.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 ml Idli batter
  • 1 Onion Chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Curry leaves Chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Oil

Instructions
 

  • In Idli batter combine diced onion and finely chopped curry leaves

  • Crush ginger, cumin seeds and green chilly.

  • Combine with the batter. Add salt
  • Season kuzhi paniyaram pan / gulgulae pan with oil and pour the batter mix.

  • Cook for 5 minutes on each side , add butter or ghee before flipping.
