Spicy mango chutney | Zabardast Aam ki Chutney

Mango pickle is a popular condiment in India and is enjoyed as a side dish with almost every meal. It is a spicy, tangy, and flavorful pickle made with raw mangoes, spices, and oil. Each region in India has its own unique way of making mango pickle. In this blog post, we will be sharing the recipe for traditional mango pickle, the South Indian way. This recipe is special to us as it is our mom’s recipe, and it is not only delicious but also very easy to make.

Spicy mango Pickle
Ingredients
- 2 Kilogram Raw Mango Grated
- 2 Tablespoon Vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon RockSalt
- 1 Tablespoon Fenugreek seeds / Methi
- 2 Tablespoon Cumin seeds
- 2 Heads / whole Garlic
- 100 ml Cooking oil
- 1 Teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 3-4 Twigs Curry leaves
- 2 Teaspoon Red Chillies
- 1 Tablespoon Chili flakes
- 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 Tablespoon Chilli powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Asafoetida / Hing
- Salt
Instructions
- Grate mango and add vinegar and rock salt.

- Dry roast fenugreek and cumin seeds

- Dry grind fenugreek and cumin seeds

- Coarse grind garlic

- Heat oil in a pan and temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chillies followed by ground spices.

- Add chili flakes, turrmeric powder, ground garlic, chilli powder, asafoetida, salt. Cook until the smell of garlic is gone for around 5 minutes.

- Cool pickle mix completely before mixing with mango.

- Spoon mango pickle in a clean, dry ceramic or glass jar.
